Introducing Alberta's VC Regional Leads Network
The Alberta Video Conference Regional Leads Network is a program established by Alberta Education and administered by the 2Learn.ca Education Society. The purpose of the VC Regional Leads Network is to support Supernet and Video-Conferencing enabled learning across Alberta's K-12 Education System. The Regional Leads Network provides expertise within regions and throughout the province, so as to supplement professional growth of videoconferencing practice in individual jurisdictions.
The 2Learn.ca Education Society has for 12 years successfully utilized a model for professional development which features classroom practitioners who model innovation and who facilitate the development of new practices among education and research communities. Thus the VC Regional Leads Network consists of 24 practising teachers who will remain within their districts and their current assignments, provided with sufficient release time and support to expand their expertise in VC practice, and to share that expertise with colleagues. These teachers will work alongside 2Learn.ca's existing Teacher-Leader network.
Alberta's VC Regional Leads Network consists of:
- one [1] full-time VC Regional Leads Network Coordinator - The VCRLN Co-ordinator is part of 2Learn.ca's Provincial Team and is responsible for working with the Regional Leads to ensure that the goals and objectives of the program are met.
- two [2] full-time VC Regional Leads Network Program Teachers - The VCRLN Program Teachers are part of 2Learn.ca's Provincial Team and are responsible for assisting Regional Leads in program delivery.
- four [4] VC Regional Leads selected from 6 PD Regions in the province [24 in total]
